Mohd Safiq Rahim (born July 5, 1987) is a Malaysian footballer who currently playing for Selangor FA. He also a member of Malaysia national, Malaysia U-23 and former Malaysia U-20 squad.
Safiq previously played for Selangor FA and was notable for his goal against Perak FA in Malaysia President Cup 2007-08 final.
International career
Safiq has represented Malaysia since 2005. He earn his first full international caps against Myanmar in 2007 ASEAN Football Championship. Since then he only made the appearance with the under 23 national team. He scored his first international senior goal in an unofficial matches against Zimbabwe on July 12, 2009.
He captained Malaysia at the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup. Malaysia won the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup tittle for the first time in their history.
After The 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup, Safiq was offered a contract by an unnamed club at the Indonesia Super League. But he turned down the offer as he wanted to stay at Malaysia and continue playing at the Malaysia Super League.
